SoleMetric

How matching works

Questionnaire facts today. Image clues only after validation.

SoleMetric is a deterministic retail-matching tool, not artificial intelligence, a pressure scan, or a medical analysis. The live ranking is built from explicit answers you can review and change.

What this is. SoleMetric Match recommends existing ready-made retail insoles using questionnaire answers only. It does not custom-manufacture, diagnose, or use images in today’s ranking.

Launch safeguard: image upload, measurement, and image-derived ranking are off until the processing, storage, consent, deletion, and validation controls are ready.

  1. Describe the shoe

Confirm size, width, shoe type, available space, and whether the factory liner comes out.

    • Choose the sizing system and exact half-size you normally buy.
    • Describe width, shoe volume, shoe type, and whether the factory liner comes out.
    • Every field requires an explicit answer; ‘Not sure’ appears where uncertainty is valid.
  2. Set your comfort priorities

Choose your activity, standing time, support feel, cushioning preference, and budget.

    • Choose the primary activity and typical standing or walking time.
    • Set support feel, cushioning, and budget preferences separately.
    • Optional preview images remain local and contribute zero ranking points.
  3. Compare a smaller shortlist

Review one strongest ready-made match plus up to two alternatives, sizing checks, and tradeoffs.

    • Known incompatibilities are removed before scoring.
    • One strongest match and up to two safe alternatives show reasons, tradeoffs, and evidence limits.
    • Amazon is the seller; confirm size, price, availability, delivery, and return terms there.

Two image modes, kept separate

Contact geometry is not the same thing as accumulated wear.

These methods have different inputs, outputs, and evidence limits. SoleMetric never labels one as the other.

Optional research method

Plantar-Contact Arch Index

Input: a supported direct, weight-bearing contact print made with a wet, ink, or pressure method. Output: a geometric contact-region ratio after strict scale, pose, boundary, and quality gates. A photo of the bare sole does not qualify.

Not active in the live matcher. Any future result must display method and quality status.

Experimental approximation

Estimated Wear Arch Index

Input: a regularly worn removable insole photographed flat, directly overhead, with the whole insole and a U.S. quarter visible. Output: a separately labeled approximation from visible accumulated patterns, never a plantar-contact result.

This estimate is derived from accumulated wear, dirt, compression, or discoloration on your removable insole. These patterns can reflect repeated foot contact, but they may also be affected by friction, sweat, socks, shoe movement, cleaning, insole material, and length of use. It is not equivalent to a clinical pressure measurement or a validated plantar-contact Arch Index, and it is not a medical diagnosis.

The rules, published

Questionnaire alignment points, not a fit probability

Only compatible, human-reviewed catalog products are scored. The 100-point rule set is code-backed, and image evidence contributes zero at launch.

Hard exclusions

  • Unavailable or unverified launch products
  • Shoe size outside a known visible size range
  • A child-ASIN link without an exact verified variant range for the entered size
  • Known width incompatibility
  • Required removable liner when the shoe has none
  • A product not listed for the selected shoe type
  • A bulky profile in a dress or low-volume shoe

What it is not

  • • Not artificial intelligence or a trained model
  • • Not a medical or biomechanical analysis
  • • Not a promise of fit, comfort, or outcome
  • • Not a replacement for professional evaluation

Optional image capture remains a clearly separated research preview and does not change today’s result.
